How I've built a 6-Figure coaching business without social media.

“I’d quit social media tomorrow if I could” - Jenna Kutcher

A few months ago I met a man named George.

George is an Army veteran. Multiple tours.

He’s kind. He’s grounded. And he’s a hero to the people who got to come home because of him.

As gripping as his stories were, it was something he said in passing that stuck with me.

We were talking about how he’s processed the pain and suffering of war - things he saw, things he did, things no one should ever have to endure.

He told me he became an avid reader during that time. Mostly books on psychology and business.

Because when he got home, he wanted a different kind of freedom:

Freedom from his mind.

Freedom with his time.

Freedom from financial stress.

George told me he’s read 243 books in the last few years.

But that’s not the thing that stuck with me, he said:

“It’s not the books I’ve read that changed my life. It’s the books I applied.”

Of all the books he’s read, he credits the 3 he actually applied with everything he’s accomplished since.

Then he asked me a question that rocked my world…

“What would happen if you stopped reading new books… and just applied one you’ve already read?”

🤯

So I did.

The book?

Who Not How by Dr. Benjamin Hardy & Dan Sullivan.

The core idea:

Anything worth building requires other people. Even if it’s just one.

Because no one creates something meaningful alone.

So I got honest with myself about something I’ve always known, but was scared to admit: When it comes to my coaching business… I hate social media.

Not just a little bit. A lot.

Not because it doesn’t work - it does.

There’s no secret that it’s the most powerful communication tool humans have ever had.

But for me?

It’s where good things go to die.

Things like - confidence, self-esteem, and momentum.

Because isn’t built for creators.

It’s built to hijack your brain.

They thrive on dopamine loops and comparison spirals.

And no matter how grounded or mission-driven you are, if you stay on too long, you’ll start asking:

  • Why am I not further along?

  • What am I doing wrong?

  • Do I need a team? More followers? More money? A better face??

What started as “running my business” quickly becomes an assault on your potential.

That’s why February 18th was my last post on IG.

Instead, I’ve doubled down on the one strategy that’s worked for me since Day 1: Collaboration.

Strategic collaborations are the only growth strategy that:

  • Gives me energy

  • Feels meaningful

  • Works with my values—not against them

It’s also the oldest one in the book.

Because human beings grow through relationships, not algorithms.

So this year, I’m doing something different…

On June 15th, I’m hosting the first-ever: Successful Solopreneur Virtual Summit

A behind-the-scenes look at how real solopreneurs have crossed the $100k mark - without going viral, building massive followings, or selling their soul to the algorithm.

They built their businesses through collaborations, not posts.

And inside the summit, you’ll learn exactly how.

If you’re tired of the “post and pray” game…

If social media is draining your creativity more than it’s building your business…

Or if you love helping people but hate “making content”…

Then this summit is for you.

Stay Tuned for more details, but for now, ask yourself this:

What’s more likely to change your business… your next post - or your next collaboration?

Matthew
