What's 100x More Powerful Than Your Next Post?

“The fastest way to grow your email list might be through someone else's audience.” - Chenell Basilio, Founder of Growth in Reverse

I was watching a documentary on the Discovery Channel this week.

It was Welcome to Earth with Will Smith (highly recommend).

In Episode 2, “Descent Into Darkness,” Will and two scientists take a submarine 3,300 feet below the ocean’s surface—into pitch black water where almost everything has never been seen by the human eye.

It was wild!

Because my brain is kinda weird. It loves a good metaphor.

And as I listened to the scientists talk about water—and how essential it is to life - I started thinking about social media.

Specifically, how it’s become the ocean of online business.

Social media is to most online businesses what water is to the planet: absolutely essential.

But here’s the irony…

Water, while life-giving, can also kill you.

  • Drowning

  • Hypothermia

  • Dehydration (being in the ocean and dying of thirst? Brutal.)

  • Parasites

  • And we’re not even going to talk about the nightmare fuel that is Shark Week…

These are just a few ways water can go from your greatest resource to your biggest threat.

And the same is true for social media.

It’s a powerful tool for growth.

But…

If you don’t engage with it intentionally—if it’s unfiltered, over-consumed, or used for the wrong reasons—it can kill you.

Ok, maybe not literally, but it will certainly kill your clarity, your motivation, and your confidence.

Here’s how it slowly chips away at your potential:

  • Doom-scrolling disguised as “research”

  • The comparison trap (“Why am I not further along?”)

  • The dopamine cycle (short hits, long-term depletion)

  • Increased anxiety, distraction, and digital burnout

For me? I hit a breaking point.

I deleted every social app off my phone a few months ago.

And since then? My business and my relationships have both dramatically improved.

I’m more focused. More present. More creative.

I literally went outside this morning and smelled the roses.

Turns out that saying is actually kind of profound.

Now - let me be clear:

My mission isn’t to convince you to quit social media.

Unless you want to. (In which case, welcome to the light 💡 )

My mission is to show you there’s another way to build a thriving online business.

One that:

  • Aligns with who you really are—psychologically and biologically

  • Leverages your strengths instead of preying on your insecurities

  • Forges relationships instead of comparisons

  • Becomes more valuable in the age of AI, not less

The strategy I’m talking about?

Collaborations.

A while ago, I had to own that fact that I really hated using social media:

I didn’t want to get better at “making content”.

Could I? Sure.

Should I? Maybe.

But want to? Absolutely not.

I wanted to help more people in a way that felt natural to me.

So I stopped trying to “get good” at something I hated…

And instead, I got obsessed with a different question:
“How have other successful entrepreneur’s created 6-Figure businesses without social media?”

That question led me to the world of collaborations—and it changed everything.

Now I get to spend my days:

  • Talking with inspiring people (aka potential partners)

  • Honing my craft and getting better at what I love

  • Consuming content that builds me—not hijacks me

And most importantly?

I get to run my business in a way that actually feels like me.

Here’s how I’ve reframed social media in my business:

  • Social media isn’t a place to post—it’s a place to pitch.

  • It’s not where you get discovered—it’s where partners vet you.

  • Posting is no longer a strategy, partnerships are.

Think about it like this…

What’s more likely to 10x your business—your next post, or your next partnership?

Next week I’ll share more about the upcoming Successful Solopreneur Virtual Summit, where I’ll share stories of how other 6-Figure Solopreneurs have built their businesses without social media.
